Displays, televisions, and screens have become an integral part of modern trade show and event technology. They serve as information systems, advertising spaces, digital menus, or interactive touchpoints. With the right setup, your booth, event, or corporate event will be a real highlight. In this guide, we show you what to look out for when renting or using displays, what mounting options are available, which resolutions make sense, and how to properly integrate external devices.

Mounting options for displays and screens

Wall mount

Displays can be mounted directly on walls. This saves space and is particularly suitable for narrow stands or exhibition walls. It is important to choose the right mount for the display size and weight of the device. 

Display stand

A display on a stand is particularly suitable as a presentation or information point. Tripods allow flexible positioning at trade fair stands or congresses. Vertical or horizontal alignment is possible, depending on requirements.

Preview monitor stand

Preview monitors (DSM) are displays on adjustable floor stands for stage or event presentations. They ensure that speakers can see and read their presentation in front of them without obstructing the audience's view.

 
Flying mount

For large events or trade fairs, a display can also be installed suspended from above. Flying mounts require precise planning and static calculations, especially for heavy screens.

Vertical vs. horizontal mounting

 

Depending on the content and application, you can use displays vertically (portrait) or horizontally (landscape).

  • Vertical (portrait): Ideal for digital signage, information boards, social media feeds, menus, or interactive touchpoints.

Most professional trade show displays, such as the Samsung QM series, support both modes without any loss of quality.

Resolutions: Full HD, 4K, and more

The current standard resolution for modern event displays is Full HD (1920x1080) or 4K (3840x2160).

  • Full HD: Sufficient for small to medium-sized booths, simple videos, and presentations.

  • 4K displays: For large booths or premium events where razor-sharp images, text displays, or product videos are shown.

 

Make sure your content matches the display resolution to avoid distortion or blurring.

Internal and external players

 

Internal players

Many professional displays, such as the Samsung QM series, have internal media players. These allow you to play videos directly, often via USB or network. Restriction: Internal players usually do not support PowerPoint presentations.

External players

External devices such as laptops, mini PCs, or streaming boxes offer greater flexibility. This allows you to integrate PowerPoint, Keynote, or interactive content. Ideal for dynamic presentations, workshops, or live demos.

Touchscreen displays

Interactive displays with touch functionality offer real added value for visitors:

  • Presentations controlled by touch

  • Digital catalogs, brochures, or product information

  • Quizzes or interactive games at trade fair stands

  • Visitor registration or check-in

Video formats for displays

The following standards apply for smooth playback on professional displays (e.g., Samsung QM series):

  • Recommended codecs: H.264

  • Container: MP4 (universally supported)

  • Maximum resolution: 4K (3840x2160)

  • Refresh rate: 50–60 Hz

  • Audio: AAC or MP3

 

Tip: For internal players, always convert files to MP4 H.264 to avoid compatibility issues. External players such as laptops can also play PowerPoint, Keynote, or other presentation software.
